The Giving Tree
And she loved little boy.
And every day the boy would come
And he would gather her leaves
And make them into crowns and play king of the forest.
He would climb up her trunk
And swing from her branches
And when he was tired,he would sleep in her shade.
And the boy loved the tree…..Very much..And the tree was happy.
But time went by,
And the boy grew older.
And the tree was often alone.
Then one day the boy came to the tree and the tree said:
–”Come, Boy, come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches and eat apples and play in my shade and be “happy”
–“I am too big to climb and play”said the boy. “I want to buy thing and have fun. I want some money. Can you give me some money?”
–”I’m sorry” said the tree,”but I have no money. I have only leaves and apples. Take my apples, Boy, and sell them in city. Then you will have money and you’ll be happy”
And so the boy climb up the tree and gathered her apples and carried them away.
And the tree was happy..
But the boy stayed away for a long time…… and the tree was sad.
And then one day the boy came back and the tree shook with joy, and she said:
–”Come, Boy come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches and eat apples and play in my shade and be “happy”..
–“I am too busy to climb trees,” said the boy. “I want a house to keep me warm,” he said. “I and want a wife and I want children, and so I need a house. Can you give me a house?”
–“I have no house” said the tree. The forest is my house.” said the tree “but you may cut off my branches and build a house. Then you will be happy”
And so the boy cut off her branches and carried them away to build a house.
And the tree was happy.
But the boy stayed away for a long time……and the tree was sad.
And when he came back, the tree was so happy she could hardly speak.
–“Come, Boy” she whispered, “Come and play”
–“I am too old and sad to play.”said the boy. “I want a boat that will take me away from here. Can you give me a boat ?”
–“Cut down my trunk and make a boat,” said the tree. “Then you can sail away…… and be happy.”
And so the boy cut down her trunk And made a boat and sailed away.
And the tree was happy…..But not really.
And after a long time the boy came back again.
–“I am sorry, Boy,”said the tree, “but I have nothing left to give you— My apples are gone.”
–“My teeth are too weak for apple,”said the boy.
–“My branches are gone,” said the tree.”You cannot swing on them—”
–”I am too old to swing on branches” said the boy.
–“My trunk is gone,” said the tree.“You cannot climb—-”
–”I am too tired to climb,” said the boy.
–“I am sorry” sighed the tree. “I wish that I could give you something… but I have nothing left. I am just an old stump. I am sorry…”
–”I don’t need very much now” said the boy. “just a quiet place to sit and rest. I am very tired”
–“Well” said the tree, straightening herself up as much as she could, “well, an old stump is good for sitting and resting. Come, Boy, sit down…and rest.”
The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears.
And the tree was happy..

Paradox Of Our Times
Today we have a bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less common sense; more knowledge, but less judgment;
We have more experts, but more problems; more medicine, but less wellness.
We spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get to angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too often, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too little and lie often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life; we've added years to life, not life to years.
We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.
We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.
We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We've conquered outer space, but not inner space. We've split the atom, but not prejudice;
We write more; but learn less; plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learn to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals.
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies, but have less communication. We are long on quantity, but short on quality.
There are times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men and short character; steep profits and shallow relationships.
More leisure and less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition; two incomes , but more divorce; fancier houses, but broken homes.
That's why I propose, that as of today, you do not keep anything for a special occasion, because everyday that you live is a special occasion.
Search for knowledge, read more, sit on your front porch and admire the view without paying attention to your needs.
Spend more time with your family and friends, eat your favorite foods, and visit the places you love.
Life is a chain of moment of enjoyment, not only about survival.
Use your crystal goblets. Do not save your best perfume, and use it every time you feel you want it.
Remove from your vocabulary phrases like "one of these days" and "someday". Let's write that letter we thought of writing "one if these days".
Let's tell our families and friends how much we love them. Do not delay anything that adds laughter and joy to your life.
Every day, every hour, and every minute is special. And you don't know if it will be your last.
If you're too busy to take the time to send this message to someone you love, and you tell yourself you will send it "one of these days". Just think... "One of these days", you may not be here to send it!

The bank account of Life - something to think about !!!
- Imagine there is a bank that credits your
account each morning with R86,400.
- It carries over no balance from day to day.
- Every "evening" deletes whatever part of the
balance you failed to use during the day.
- What would you do?
- Draw out every cent,
Of Course!!!
--------------------------------------------------------
- Each of us has a "bank
It's name is Time.
- Every morning,
it credits you with 86,400 seconds
- Every night it writes off, as lost
whatever of this you have failed to
invest to good purpose.
- It carries over no balance
- It allows no overdraft
- Each day it opens a new account for you
- Each night it burns the remains of the day
- If you fail to use the day's deposit
the loss is yours
--------------------------------------------------------
There is no going back
There is no drawing against the
"Tomorrow"
- You must live in the present
on today's deposit
- Invest it so as to get
from it the utmost in
health, happiness
and success!
- The clock is running
- Make the most of today
--------------------------------------------------------
To realize the value of ONE YEAR...
ask a student who failed a grade
To realize the value of ONE MONTH...
ask a mother who gave birth
to a premature baby
To realize the value of ONE WEEK...
ask the editor of a weekly newspaper
To realize the value of ONE HOUR...
ask the lovers who are waiting to meet
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE...
ask a person who missed the train
To realize the value of ONE SECOND...
ask a person who just avoided
an accident
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND...
ask the person who won a silver medal
in the Olympics.
--------------------------------------------------------
- Treasure every moment that you have!
- And treasure it more because you shared it with
something special, special enough to spend your time
and remember that time waits for no one
- Yesterday is history.
- Tomorrow is mystery.
- Today is a gift.
- That's why it's called...
the
Present!!!
